I started a new gig today, working for the worlds largest aerospace company, on an innovative use of SOA. Evie and I turned up the southern beds and planted six blueberry bushes to the east of where I envision the goat pen in a year or so ;) I dog-proofed the gate and also planted (plant/varieties):

  • lettuce (4 varieties)
  • strawberries (3)
  • onion (3)
  • mint (2)
  • artichoke (1)

Wagon Ho!

Filed under: in other news — rabbit @ 4:44 pm

volvo_v70.jpgEvie and I traded in her red ’single chick’ car for an ‘old married lady with dog’ car today. We got a 2001 Volvo Wagon with 63k miles for <10k.

We took $2000 for the Golf because it was totally imploding. We might have gotten 3.5k via private sale, and would likely have put almost a grand into it getting it ready to sell - plus the hassle - so it was a fair trade.

Sweet!

Pygmy Goat

Eve and I are card-carrying members of the Goat Justice League and are happy to announce that the Seattle City Council voted unanimously to reclassify the goats - also known as dwarf, or miniature goats - as small animals rather than farm animals after testimony touting the virtues of the dog-sized critters as companions, weed eaters and milk producers.

“One small step for man, one giant step for goatkind,” council member Richard Conlin, who sponsored the measure, said after Monday’s vote.

Now I have a mission to construct a pen for us to keep them in when I return from Singapore. Ummm, got milk?

Kayak Adventures

Sunset on the sound! We went kayaking at work today as a ‘team building’ exercise. It was fun though I’m a little sore today. Makes me want to buy a boat so I can do it more often and take the kids out when they get stir crazy. One of the guys on the team had a GPS watch and was able to upload the data from our trip to a webpage. Pretty cool use of the technology!

In other news, we close on the house Friday and move next Tuesday - yay! Really looking forward to the fresh start of a new environment.

New House

Filed under: in other news — rabbit @ 9:00 am

Eve and I made an offer on a house last week. Fingers crossed ’till closing…

house1.jpg In other news I have been busy with sangha and getting the Maple Leaf house ready for sale. Really enjoying the season and spending cool evenings by the fire. Kids are out of school and asking about a camping trip soon. That will be really nice once we are settled from all the moving.

Bye Bye Birdie?

how patriotic!

In other news. The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government’s political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you’re actually being screwed.

Thanks Eddie!

What A Rabbit Know

Filed under: in other news — rabbit @ 10:52 am

Well that’s odd. I post some Chuck D lyrics that are ‘found’ a day later by a journalist doing a google search, who wrote the next day about the response to Hurricane Katrina which included a link to my blog; 24 hours later I have (as of this posting) nearly a thousand views of this blog:

Total: 990
Average Per Day: 108
Average Visit Length: 0:35
Last Hour: 37
Today: 176
This Week: 757

WTF!

With an average visit length of 0:35 I know most of you aren’t even reading all of what Chuck has to say (let alone my rambling) but a few of you have spent nearly half-an-hour here. Bored at work? Haha! Been there…

In other news I think I want to be a “Performance Lab Engineer” for f5 when I grow up - maybe next week? I might have a few tantrums to throw first…

Futures Market

I figured out how to pay for my ongoing yoga practice. After six weeks I can’t imagine not continuing. It’s a simple formula:

Weekly coffee card at Elbasha = $20 x 6 months = /~ $480.00
Six-month unlimited pass to 8 Limbs = $425.00

Wow, I can even afford to buy some new threads with the difference. Where’s my fashion consultant?

“Does drinking coffee interfere with yoga? No, yoga interferes with drinking coffee!”

In other news:

I spent the day yesterday home with a *cough* - no really, and all these materials magically showed up in the shop; drywall, backerboard, tile, mortar, lights, door knobs, etc. By evening I was feeling much *better* so I went out and danced the night away. Cheb i Sabbah was spinning some new jungle flavored tunes. Very nice - great energy in the house.

Jo and the kids went to Montana for the week so I need to stay busy to stay sane. Lots of work remaining.
